Two ways. A business adds itself, or it is imported from a public register — FAA repair station certificates, Part 141 schools — and sits unclaimed until somebody at that business claims it. An unclaimed entry shows only what the public record says and is labelled as such. Nothing is written in a business’s voice unless that business wrote it.
What we will not do
Sell the ordering. A business can pay for a labelled slot at the top of a category, and that slot says it is paid. Everything below it is ranked by distance and by whether we have verified the certificate — never by who spent money. A directory that quietly sells its ranking is worth nothing to the person reading it, which makes it worth nothing to advertise in either.
